Stafford Castle

This 900 year old castle stands on a motte-and-bailey. Built during the Norman conquest of England by Robert of Stafford, it is one of the oldest surviving examples of Norman earthwork in the country. During the Summer Months Shakespeare plays are performed at Stafford Castle. 
Ancient High House

Considered by some historians to be the oldest surviving timber townhouse surviving from the Elizabethan period. The Ancient High House was built in 1595 for the Dorrington Family. King Charles I was welcomed into the house during 1642 on his travels to Shrewsbury. The town house features a vast collection of period furniture while retaining its unique architectural flourishes. 
St Chad's Church

St Chad's Church is the oldest standing building in Stafford. Dating from the 12th Century. It preserves the Norman style of architecture and stonework. Parts of the building were restored and rebuilt in the mid 19th Century. Services are available most days of the week.
